Benjamin Desaint’s journey in the world of social law is a testament to his dedication and expertise. After graduating from the prestigious University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2003, he embarked on a career that has seen him excel in various roles and make significant contributions to the legal and social landscape.
Benjamin’s professional journey began as a lawyer specializing in social law for Aéroports de Paris, where he learned the intricacies of employment and labor relations. In 2005, Benjamin joined Metro Cash and Carry France as a legal and social relations manager. However, in 2007, Benjamin took his career to new heights and became lawyer.
The pinnacle of his career so far came in 2019, when Benjamin and 5 of his partners co-founded the FACTORHY Group. In 2022, he passed the bar exam in Canada and was appointed Vice-President IDF Services of the largest French employers’ organization, the CPME. Benjamin performs governance functions in various HR associations (ANDRH, SYSTEMIK RH) and serves as a judge at the Labour Court of Nanterre. Finally, Benjamin performs teaching duties in multiple universities and law schools.
“I liked legal techniques for their complexity, especially in labor law. I had no real desire to become a lawyer. Although I had passed the exam, I initially chose the company. However, companies are not convinced by the legal advice of in-house lawyers. Especially for liability issues. This is why I chose to become a lawyer,”– he explained.
Key Trends
Being a visionary in the legal field, Benjamin advocates for a new breed of lawyers who possess the qualities of both an ‘engineer’ and a ‘strategist.’ Benjamin firmly believes that this hybrid approach is the key to a prosperous future for legal professionals. He recognizes that a premium service must necessarily accompany this high level of service. He firmly believes that the days of mid and low-end legal services may be numbered as clients increasingly seek specialized expertise and holistic solutions. In his view, lawyers who can’t meet these demands risk becoming obsolete.
To meet these demands, Benjamin and his team have taken several measures and have developed SECURHITY, a cutting-edge software solution designed to empower clients to manage risks comprehensively, securely, and effortlessly. This tool enhances their client’s ability to manage complex legal landscapes and streamlines their risk management processes.
Primary Challenges
Benjamin’s journey with the FACTORHY Group has been marked by remarkable growth. As he sees it, as the CEO of the company, one of the primary challenges has been effectively managing this rapid expansion. When Benjamin and his partners Co-founded the law firm, they started with 35 employees. Over time, their commitment to excellence and ability to meet their clients’ evolving needs propelled the firm’s growth. Today, they proudly employ more than 130 professionals, a testament to their dedication and trust in their clients.
However, Benjamin’s aspirations don’t stop here. He has set his sights on further expansion within France and internationally. By the end of the year, he envisions establishing offices abroad, especially in Montreal, Canada.
Motivating Creativity
Benjamin always tries to recruit people who want a future, who do not see only the tasks to be performed but who also see the opportunity to succeed. Benjamin’s leadership philosophy strongly emphasizes on empowering his team members to gain autonomy in their roles. He understands that autonomy is a catalyst for creativity and innovation. When individuals are given the freedom to think, propose solutions, and take ownership of their work, they are more likely to excel and contribute meaningfully.
What sets Benjamin apart is his recognition of the value of autonomy and his willingness to grant it willingly. This encouragement of autonomy allows his team to flourish in an environment where creativity thrives. When individuals are free to reflect, brainstorm, and propose solutions, their work transcends the realm of mere tasks. It becomes a means of self-realization, where employees find fulfillment and a profound sense of purpose in what they do.
Picture of the Future
In the future, Benjamin aspires to accelerate the growth of FACTORHY Group, with a particular focus on expanding its international presence by establishing offices abroad.
Expanding internationally is also a significant step for any organization, and Benjamin’s forward-looking approach indicates his commitment to embracing global opportunities. The firm’s success in its home country of France has undoubtedly laid a strong foundation for this ambitious endeavor. However, Benjamin recognizes that growth on an international scale requires not only legal expertise but also an understanding of the unique HR challenges and regulations in different regions.
