TVH Equipment centralizes all its Waregem activities in a state-of-the-art new building, strategically located along the E17. With the move of its head office to Mannebeekstraat, the Belgian market leader in the rental and sale of industrial machines is ready for further strategic growth. TVH Equipment shares the already iconic, fully round building with mateco IT, a global provider of advanced technological solutions for the mateco group.
The brand new home base of TVH Equipment and mateco IT was designed by DEMO Architects and was realized by Stadsbader and Willy Naessens Group. Because the round shape with the striking sun blinds resembles a bird’s nest structure, the building was internally baptized ‘The Nest’. In line with this theme, the meeting rooms are named after different bird species, referring to the ideas that are ‘hatched’ during meetings. The construction phase ran from August 2021 to April 2024. In the meantime, the employees have moved to their new workplace. The official opening for customers and suppliers will take place on Friday, June 14, and for employees and their partners on Saturday, June 15.
Until recently, the various services at TVH Equipment’s head office in Waregem were spread across different buildings. “Now that we have everything centralized in one location, we can further expand our unique 360° service to our customers while significantly reducing our ecological footprint,” says CEO Kristof Coudenys.
The ground floor of Het Nest is completely occupied by the impressive studio and the centrally located warehouse. The large windows in the 33 sectional doors guarantee not only plenty of natural light, but also an optimal connection with the first floor, where the technical service, HR and prevention service offices were housed. The inner glass ring ensures maximum visual contact. The beautiful courtyard is perfect for informal meetings.
The second floor offers space for mateco IT, the Sales and Rental offices of TVH Equipment, a refectory with outdoor terrace, a large relaxation room and a high-tech training room. There is a spacious parking lot and bicycle shed for employees underneath Het Nest.
The latest know-how in the field of sustainable architecture led to a Nearly Energy Neutral Building (BENG), with many innovative and environmentally friendly elements:
· Pioneering design: a round building turned out to be the ideal way to literally shape the great bond between employees and to facilitate frequent mutual contacts. The shorter walking distances between departments that often work together give efficiency a significant boost.
· Abundant glass: the abundance of glass creates additional visual connections between colleagues and contributes to an open, accessible, inspiring and cooperative environment.
· Renewable energy: a BEO field (Soil Energy Storage) of 400,000 m³ is entirely responsible for the heating and cooling of the building. 144 geothermal heat exchangers allow you to exchange heat or cold (depending on the season) with the ground up to a depth of 58 meters. In this way, TVH Equipment reduces its ecological footprint by 106,000 kg CO²/year. In addition, there is also an extensive solar energy system and an ingenious rainwater buffer system with a capacity of 400,000 liters.
· Attention to biodiversity: 80,000 honey bees find their habitat in 2 hives around the building. In the large courtyard, the conscious choice fell on mixed native shrubs.
· Customized sun blinds: smart sun blinds increase energy efficiency and comfort in the building. The grid structure adapts to the position of the sun and always provides the right shade, taking the seasons into account. This way, more sun – good for extra warmth – is let through in the winter.
